Do home remedies for acne really work?
55If you have problems with acne then I completely understand! I suffered from acne for a long time, and when it finally went away I had the scars to prove it! Since then I’ve gone on to get the scars laser removed but I’ll never forget those horrible times as a teenager when I had acne.
What made things worse is all the products that claim to be home remedies for acne when in reality they aren’t. There is no known medical cure for acne at the moment and anything that claims otherwise you should be very wary of! On the other hand, there are plenty of things that you can do to help acne, just don’t fall for the old “chocolate causes acne” thing because it doesn’t. There are some dietary influences on acne but you shouldn’t assume but instead see a dermatologist who will be able to advise you on what you should do next.
Let me tell you a story. When I had acne I spent quite a lot of money that I didn’t really have on products that claimed to get rid of it. None of them worked as far as I could tell. This is probably because a lot of them centred on being able to get rid of dirt from the skin when in reality acne isn’t caused by dirt. Even so I believed them and spent a lot of money hoping that they would fix it. To make things worse I couldn’t stop using them because I was worried that if I did the acne would get worse!
Luckily over time the acne started to go away and that is what will happen in the majority of cases so try not to worry. Acne comes at a very difficult time in our lives so it is hard not to spend time thinking about how much more confident or attractive you’d be without it – that will all come in time. I know how you feel because I went through exactly the same thing and it isn’t pleasant!
However, stick at it and before you know it the acne will be gone and your confidence will be back. If you think you have very severe acne then you should contact your dermatologist who will advise you on the best way to avoid getting scarring because that can be a real problem.
